Guidance

This date must be accurate as it affects both entitlement to and the amount of statutory redundancy pay.  Bear in mind that there are some circumstances in which periods of employment with a previous employer might count towards the period of continuous employment with the current employer.  There are also some circumstances in which gaps in employment might be bridged by law.  Also be wary of apparent changes in status (e.g. consultant/agency worker/employee); only periods of employment count but be wary of labels that have been misapplied. If in doubt, seek legal advice.
